New Naturopathic Medicine Bill May Become a Florida Law
March 27, 2026 | By Crystal SanfordThe 2026 Florida Legislative (Regular) Session has ended. Why is that important to you? During the Session, our Firm monitored as Legislators considered Senate Bill 688 – an act relating to naturopathic medicine. This act will allow naturopathic physicians to become licensed in Florida again. Naturopathy licensure began in Florida in 1927 but was banned in 1959. However, the Florida Legislators recognize the evolution of this profession in the health care industry. This bill allows for licensure by examination, by endorsement, and telemedicine licensure.
Currently, the bill has been ordered enrolled. That means the bill cleared the House and the Senate and is ready to be presented to the Governor. If this bill becomes a law, it will become effective on December 31, 2026.
The attorneys at Howell, Buchan, & Strong are ready to assist Naturopathic Physicians interested in becoming licensed in Florida. Stay tuned to our webpage for more information about this bill as it becomes available.
