Helpful tips: Florida Approved Office Surgery Accrediting Organizations
January 7, 2026 | By Crystal SanfordRegistered office surgery facilities in Florida are required to undergo an annual inspection by Department of Health Inspectors or be accredited by an approved national accrediting organization. The Florida Boards of Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine (Boards) review and approve the national accrediting organizations for Florida using criteria outlined in Board regulations and accrediting organizations are held to all Board-approved surgery and anesthesia standards. Once an accrediting organization is approved by the Boards, the accrediting organization can begin accrediting facilities in Florida. Florida rule requires the national accreditation organizations to resubmit an application for approval every three (3) years.
National accreditation can be expensive and time-consuming. It is important for a Florida registered office surgery facility that is considering accreditation to know the approved organizations. There are many organizations that accredit office surgery facilities; however, not all are approved by the Boards. Nationally recognized accrediting agencies include:
