Mandatory Online License Renewals for Health Care Providers

As an owner and operator of a health care facility in Florida, you are likely familiar with the licensing renewal process with the Agency for Healthcare Administration (“AHCA”), which is vital to the continued operation of your facility. However, recently, the Florida Legislature has amended Rule 59A-35.060(2), Florida Administrative Code, to require all health care providers to submit their license renewal application through the Online Licensing System.

Starting September 5, 2024, AHCA will no longer accept renewal applications submitted via mail or hand delivery, and applications received in this manner will be returned to the provider. There are strict deadlines imposed by AHCA to file a license renewal application, and the renewal application must be submitted on time through the Online Licensing System.

Therefore, if you attempt to file a renewal application through mail, you may not become aware that AHCA has rejected the application until after the deadline has passed. By submitting an application improperly, you could be at risk of missing the deadline and potentially facing legal consequences as a result.
